Operating Train Room having delays
Posted by dbaker48 on Thursday, July 23, 2020 8:26 PM

Good Evening,

I know things are a bit peculier around here, the thread seems to have disappeared, and the Coffee Pot appears inoperative and/or locked up.  I am a little surprised that thris thread has gotten this far.  Will see if it posts.

Summertime is hard for train rooms, so many other diversions pop up.  I haven't spent any time in my room in over a month, possibly longer.  Hopefully that will change soon.  Just finished redoing our small patch of yard in the front.  Have it aereated and put down some grass seed, and watering it like 3 times a day.  Been running down parts for the El Camino, hopefully it will be back in another week or so.

Take care all and be safe.  (Curious to see if this thread shows up.)

Yep, it posted, Welcome

I think Fife may be onto something, possibly some nerves maybe being ruffled, this forum may be going into a Convid related issue, and about to go in to "Lock Down"

I feel your pain Mr. Baker, I haven't been out to my "Chugger Barn" for close to a week.  With temperatures in the 90's it's almost unbearable out there, even with four fans going!

The train room has been my sanctuary during Woo-han.  Except for an 8-week stretch at the railyard (thanks to PPP), I've been steadily making progress on the layout.

The challenging part has been acquiring supplies for scenery.  I just can't order something on-line, I want to see it, and make sure it will fit the task.

I also credit posting weekly pics on SPF with my progress.  Self pressure to keep things fresh has kept me working on the layout (much as it did when the Coffee Pot Interchange was rolling).  I try to get into the train room after dinner, instead of sinking into the recliner.  Benefits the layout and my motabolism at the same time...

I'm still working on mine, but need to get shed completed first so I can move some stuff back into the new shed that was in the old one

My biggest issue is the revised layout plan I did.  The previous version was more intriguing.  Need to add a second level, but I don't want to sacrifice the shelving space.  Such a dilema.

When it gets close to spring all train room work stops. With a 43 acre farm things can get very busy from planting to the repair projects. I have started a new layout last year so was able to get track work pretty much done this winter. Already looking forward to winter, summers just keep getting hotter the older I get???

They say winters get colder the older you get, but that hasn't bothered me so far.  When it gets cold you can always put something else on.  When it gets hot you can only take so much off before you get arrested!   Embarrassed
