Thanks Paul!  It's been a long time since we've had a visit to "The Sandstone Cliffs Route!"

Thanks!

We we're talking about Marx, and I realized I haven't been running them enough!
Got to bust'em out!

Hey, PwP, thanks for sharing those pics.  What scales are represented on your layout?

Fife,

I have N scale, from my apartment days, HO scale, 0n30, Flyer S gauge, and 0 scale. I like them all.

Yesterday, I was hungry for Marx, and ran most of my Marx trains.

This was followed by running most of my Lionel engines.

Trying to keep busy at home, and not go outside too much....

What's not to like about those Lionel 2-6-4's?  They may have been "bargain basement" engines but they sure got the job done!  I've got a 2018 that'll pull 15 modern era near scale size cars without breaking a sweat!

A lot of bang for the buck there!

Yes, a basic " no frills" engine, but this is where it's true beauty lies. Solid , reliable, can be relied upon.

This engine has grown on me! It does all I ask.

HI Paul,

We are enjoying the photos of your layout. Why not use this opportunity to take a few with better lighting and depth of field and submit them to CTT for possible use in Photo Album. If you need some tips, feel free to call me at the magazine.

Sincerely,

Roger,

thank you ! First off, this latest issue of CTT is excellent! It gets better, and better every issue( if that is even possible).

So, I realize that I have a lot of work ahead to clean things up to make my photos up to the high standards of CTT.

I'll be more than happy to work at it, hopefully I can give you something that is suitable. Let me see what I can come up with.

Thanks Paul--feel free to call me to discuss the pictures and how to compose the sorts of shots we are looking for. And thanks for the kind words about our new issue--all of us are working very hard to meet and then exceed the high expectations our fantastic readers have for CTT.

Stay healthy and feel free to call,

I've always felt the small-ish 2-6-4's with the big vent(?) on the pilot deck of the 2026, 2036, etc. type were the quintessential post-war steamer.  They just scream "Lionel!" more than any other type.

Yes, like 'em too!

I remember that clip from the " Addams Family" ( the new one with Raul Julia as Gomez). It has a mighty 2-6-4 screaming down the track. Belching smoke! If someone on the production crew said " we need a Lionel train", and didn't specify, that's what they would come up with!

A couple of things about Addams:

in that clip, there is a shot of a commuter on the train, and outside the coach window is a giant person and a transformer. That was actually a cartoon in the original Addams comics.

Another original Addams cartoon that has stuck in my mind is this:

riders on a roller coaster come to the top of the big hill, to be greeted by a sign that reads " construction zone, continue at your own risk".

You bet!  The casting was perfect!  Anjelica Huston, Raul Julia, Christopher Lloyd, (Who else could do Uncle Fester?) and a brilliantly creepy Christina Ricci as Wednesday!

However, and God rest Raul Julia's soul, to me John Astin will always be Gomez Addams!

We grew up in the 60's, watching the Addams family. Yes, John Astin will always be Gomez to me, in the same way Connery will always be the only legitimate Bond. But, Raul Julia and team are surprisingly good, and I love this version!

Also, I seem to remember the Addams family played against the Munsters on different channels at the same time! You had to pick one or the other, and no VCR!
