what you see from the photos is that LIONEL started with a clean sheet of paper; Their GG1 is closer to scale; MTH used their older model as a basis and added PS-2 and the moving pantographs. I think that accounts for the lower cost.

Overall, I'd pick the Lionel. I like the bit darker green with more of a sheen. BTW, after passing by the GG-1 at the VMT today, the interior of the cab is very light grey just as it appears in your photos.

The darker green one as it looks fresh out of the shop and the flat finish one looks too weathered to be fresh out of the shop. Just my opinion. I hate flat finishes no matter who makes them.

They are both very nice, what type of operating system that you like may be a deciding factor along with the price difference.
