Lionel Block Signal later version with bayonet bulbs

Need some advice

trying to connect my 153 block signal later version.  I want green light all the time and red when train is on plate.  No block or switch wiring.  LW transformer.  Years ago I had accessory fixed voltage to middle term on signal, common to single term on plate and the two others from plate two terminal part to signal outside.  Only the red(bottom) light works.  Checked bulbs, both good.  Switched outer leads on signal, nothing.  Do any instructions exist for this?

thanks in advance.  Northern

Worked great on wiring diagram although the contractor is too finicky.  I modified it with a insulated track.  Green light stays on all the time.  Red comes on when train is halfway in a tunnel.

Only problem is green stays on with red but that's ok.  It's bulletproof and weight of train no longer matters!

If you want to take it to the next level, add a relay to get your red to go out.

Contained in the following CTT discussion from 2011 is another alternative.
