Been some positive & negative things said about Northlandz, and Roadside America, but my wife & I loved both. We spent 3 hours in Northlandz, & 1 hour in Roadside America. We will visit them again.

(What some people don't consider is the amount of personal effort each individual put into these empires. They were not built by any company that does nothing but build railroad empires. Northlandz is "whimsical", and Roadside America was built to display buildings, scenery, & scenes, with trains added, during & from a time period when most of us wern't born yet.)

Northlands is worth seeing if you are in the area. The theme is scenery more than trains, mostly HO. Not much sophistication in the train operation. I agree a lot of effort went into building it . After we saw it once however we didnt see any need to visit again. The town of Flemington itself is very nice with victorian houses and a scenic railroad going to New Hope.If you like biking there is a path that runs along the canal and railroad.. Northlands itself is outside of Flemington on a busy highway. If traveling to the area I would combine it with other things.

I visted Northlandz about 4 years ago. I am not a HO guy but the layout was fascinating. If you are in the area and enjoy model trains I would suggest stopping by.

I, too, visited it about 4 years ago and enjoyed every minute of the 4 hours that I spent admiring it. People can nitpick, it's their opinion and that's fine. I was in awe when I visited it.

The path to walk THRU it (not around it) is supposed to be nearly 1 mile long. One thing that I liked was how they 'hide' sections of the layout until you get to the part of the walkway where they want you to see it.

The bridges alone were enough to fascinate me! I know the guy's a engineer, but knowing that he designed and built these bridges himself was fascinating.

That all being said, I don't think I would return for another visit either unless it drastically changed.
