Show's been canceled.  Coronavirus panic.  What can I say?  Sorry to disappoint, my sincere apologies to those who were planning on attending.

Thanks Becky.  I know, I know, it'll pass, but I was looking forward to this one.

Oh well, there's Charlottesville in July!

Bumping this back to page one.

If any of you were planning on attending the Virginia Train Collectors July show in Keswick (Charlottesville) VA this weekend I regret to inform you the show's been cancelled.  COVID-19 don't you know.  See the club website for details on this or other future shows.

https://www.vatraincollectors.com

We re-scheduled to August but had to cancel that one too.

We're still hoping for November, but that could change too.  Keep your fingers crossed.

Yeah, Greenberg's August Chantilly VA show is still on too.  No word though about masks or social distancing.  Masks I can see (I don't like 'em but I can live with 'em) but I don't see how the social distancing thing's going to work.  Are we supposed to not get withing six feet of the displays?  Hmm

$20.00 a table is a very  good deal.  My club charges $25 a table, which is a pretty good deal as well, and  our shows are all indoors.

Good to know Michael, thanks!

Not that I was planning on going to that one, but others may have been.

In fact, this topic may be a good way to disseminate info on show cancellations if anyone knows of any.

I got a postcard on the Monroeville show the week before it was scheduled. Reading the postcard it sounded like the tickets were for a certain time. Not sure how they accounted for how long you stayed. When I went to check details on their website the show was canceled

Yeah, just got the email that Edison is cancelled.

In my opinion, this is all crap.  I'm really sick to death (pun intended) with the idiot in Trenton thinking he's the second coming of King George (you history buffs will get it).

Common sense has left the building......

People have proven time and time again over the past few months that common sense has left their heads! People are dying by the thousands and they're partying and gathering shoulder-to-shoulder. Unfortunately everyone ends up paying for their irresponsibility.

I can't say I didn't see that one coming.

You know the difference between a dilemma and a crisis?  According to Henry Kissinger a crisis has some kind of a solution, no matter how bad it is.  A dilemma has no good solution.  What we've got here with this plague is a dilemma.

It's just not going away, and we just can't shut the whole country down indefinately, that could mean a disaster worse than the disease.  If it was up to me I'd tell everyone the best ways to avoid catching it, what can happen to you and what your odds are if you do  catch it, and then turn society loose and let everyone set their own level of risk.  But that's probably reckless on my part.  Good thing I'm not in charge of anything.  What do I know?

At this point it looks like most all train shows will be cancelled. The announcement about York hasn't been made yet but since the York State Fair was cancelled it appears that the ED/TCA York will follow suit.

Indoor gatherings of over 25 people are not allowed in PA.  Unless it's a church for some strange reason.  So cally our model train show a religious service, I guess?

Toy trains and model railroading a religion?  Hmmm, there's a thought.

Maybe we can start with this and build on it?

The last I heard about York from our club newsletter was forget it for this fall, it ain't gonna happen.  But if you've ever been in the military you know the saying:

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was changed!"

So keep your fingers crossed, but don't expect a miracle.

My club is planning  on having a show in November,  a one-day 9 to3, but the key word is planning.  We don't have a date yet and even that might fall through.

Damned hell-spawned virus.

I don't know why the train shows are being cancelled since I have been to three Gun shows in PA within the last month. Most recent one was yesterday in Morgantown, PA. Hundreds of people were there. We all wore masks but most people got to within 6 feet of one another. No different than going to Walmart on a Saturday!

Well gun shows are  kind of a religious observance in Pennsylvania, I should know, I've been to the Allentown show numerous times!

But not since I've moved to Virginia, too far to go.  But I DO miss the ice cream waffles they sold at the Allentown show's snack bar!  YUM!

Religious institutions are constitutionally exempt from the covid rules, however the state has asked us to follow them and has worked closely with church officials.  My congregation plans to open the sanctuary mid September (as of right now) but it will be following all CDC guidelines.  Now about that train religion, I submit myself for the Rev. Conductor position.  I've been considering contacting the smoke companies for one that smells like incense.
