Hi everyone, Just inherited a couple of boxes of "we just put the train and village out under the tree at christmas". Everything is postwar and O gauge. Have identified all the track, switches, cars and assorted plasticville pieces (thanks to this website and its forum!!) but a bag of these "blocks" is a mystery. They are small and heavy (maybe lead) and are unmarked. Can anybody tell me what these are? Thanx in advance.
Lead weights to add to rolling stock maybe?
Load for gondolas & hoppers.

aboard!
My guess would be someone may have been using them to weigh down something, either cars (although most O gauge equipment doesn't need extra weight) or possibly to keep wire for lighting up those plasticville buildings held down. Using a string of Christmas lights is a very simple and effective way to light up a temporary layout. But as to where they came from, they're not like anything I've seen before.

Trains, trains, wonderful trains. The more you get, the more you toot!
Plumber's lead, maybe? Those holes through the blocks would help it melt faster.
