O switcher SP bloody nose
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 12:55 PM
I passed up on buying an O switcher SP bloody nose with a San Francisco name on it at a show in Hayward,CA a few years ago. Haven't been able to locate this item since. Has to be 1970 on, thought it was Lionel but maybe not.
Anyone with info would be helpful, who makes it ,seen one, one for sale.
Thanks, Dave

I belive in 1989 (Book 1?) Lionel offered a SP drill engine with railsounds. Might have been the first diesel ever offered with this feature. Not sure about the San Fransisco name but this might help as a starting point.

The [}:)] Doctor is in!!! Lionel offered a switcher with a "bloody nose" and K-Line offered
one( I have one on my pike). The K-Line one has "San Francisco" on it I belive( due to
late hour I cannot go into the basement to look. ) In fact I bought mine at the Hayward
show which is held in January. It was paired with a red SP caboose. Price was about $90.00 for both. I have seen the Lionel priced at over $200.00 . I think the K-Line was in
"Black Widow" and the Lionel is in lighter gray with the "Bloody nose". The K-Line Is a good runner, I am going to have to add some weight because when you put a few cars on it , the lead truck wants to derail ! Small Problem for a strong engine. Hope this answers the question. Till My Next Missive, I Remain The Humble, Yet Strangly [}:)] Doctor !!!

I believe that show was 3 or 4 years ago. It was paired with a caboose. I didn't want the caboose, just the engine. Passed up on it , been looking ever since. I'll be at that show this month , not sure what date it is. If your in the market to sell it let me know.
Thanks, Dave ,San Jose

Would you give some more information on the show in Hayward? When, where, and what typically what is on the tables for sale? And of course is this a TCA or TTOS show or open to the public?

Thanks.

The [}:)] Doctor is in !!! First question: Dave Glad to see a forum member in my area !
Second, I am not planning to sell my switcher. I am very fond of it. Third question: The
show is on Jan.30,a sunday. And for your question Murrieta, the show is sponsered by the Golden Gate Lionel Rail Club. It is open to the public. A lot of O gauge, Some 2 rail
mostly 3 rail and some other scales. Also toys and misc. As to the question of the K-Line switcher, I saw at least one for sale, with the caboose at this show after I bought
mine. I had a chanch to look up the Lionel model, It was listed in Greenburg's for $230.00 in EXC and $250.00 New ! it came out in 1990. It makes the $90.00 for the K-Line switcher/caboose look real good !!! The Location is Centennial Hall, 22292 Foothill Blve. 11am to 4pm $5.00 and under 12 free ! The web site is:www.gglrrc.org.
They also have a member run layout which is modular for the public. Now if you will excuse me, I have to torture a underling who had the gall to touch the KW of The Great
Doctor !!! Untill My Next Missive, I Remain The Humble,Yet Strangly Evil Doctor !!! P.S.
If you come to the show, Look for a 6+ft Man In a Big Black Hat and Coat ! It might be me! Feel Free to say Hello. We can start a Northen Cal Forum Group. The Doctor !!!
