1.3 inches of rain overnight Wednesday. Yesterday since it was wet I lit the most recent brush pile and started to make a new one.
Soon gave that up due to the heat.
Last evening Mrs and I enjoyed a drink and a deep fried Stromboli with a friend at a local pub. Then cleaned the freezer, wrapping a quarter of beef today.
Son planning to cut hay today.

Was going to post last night and then it slipped my mind. Had a nice visit with New Mexico friends last night before they head back home. Work finally starting to settle down. Weather still hot. Hope to have A/C fixed today. Indycar at Iowa this weekend. I hope everyone has a good day.

Good afternoon from a sunny hot 96°F Southern Ohio. Heat index has it at 105 and Saturday 110 – 115.
It has been a week since I’ve posted. Bride had her neck surgery Tuesday and the doctor was pleased with the results. I brought her home Wednesday evening. The hospital (Riverside in Columbus) and staff are fantastic. We interfaced with probably 100 different staff and all were kind knowledgeable and very nice. Bride is having the usual post-surgery pain and so I’m staying close by. The kids help when they are here and many friends have dropped off meals. We are blessed.
I’m going to buy the semi-transparent stain for the house as Sherman – Williams has it 40% off this weekend. The house needs done and the garage we built has not been stained yet. I figure 20 gallons. I’m researching the prep work, and will need to clean the house first. The house is cedar lap with a cedar shake shingles. I plan on cleaning it then start staining when the weather breaks in a few weeks.
Dennis – You may want to have a check-up if you are more tired than usual.

My layout's in what I call "The Chugger Barn," a 10 x 14 foot shed, actually a nice one with a porch in front. It's been so hot this week I've only been out there once this week, and only to shoot off a Raid Indoor Fogger, saw some ants in there Saturday when I got home from the train show that I wanted to deal with quickly. Them and possibly anything else that be might thinking about moving in.
Fogged the interior last year about this time and it worked like a champ.
Even with four fans going full-blast and in plenty of shade it's still too hot in there to do anything. High 90's all week, possibly 100 tomorrow.
Oh well, as the saying goes "Winter is coming!"

Quieter day at work. Still hot. Granddaughter did well at ballet performance. Watched last night's Izombie. TK qualified relatively well at Iowa. Hopefully there will be a top 10 finish Saturday night. I hope everyone has a good day.

I might, might, try for a visit to the "Chugger Barn" today just to run some trains around the loop.
Right now I'm doing a white wash just to keep busy. Thank goodness I got all the outside work done earlier this week.

Dennis, hope you and Ray get some relief from the heat, its typicall 15 deg or maybe 20 deg cooler down here, due to the ocean breeze I think. And, we have the Coyote Creek river bed right outside of our back yard. So about 4pm we get a sifnificant breeze every night, and the marine layer keeps us cool in the am. Sure hope everyone does well with the Hot weather!! Its warm here but not unreasonably hot, might be different inland some. I'm not concerned about SJ with the heat however, he said he forgot to turn the furnace on last night, and will have that remedied for tonight. Did have to go to the eye Dr yesterday. About 4 or 5 days ago noticed a dark spot when looking out of my left eye, not there when looking through both. The doc said the "macular degeneration" I have has advanced from the dry stage to the wet stage, causing the gray spot. So they said the treatment is 3 or 4 injections into the eye, (retna). So that's what they did. Then go back in a month for the next one. Oh fun!

Stayed up to listen to rain delayed Iowa race. TK got his second top 10 of the season for AJ and Mattheus was 16th from 22nd. Considering the season so far, this was a good night. Went to local historical museum today and saw my mom's wedding dress as part of a display of such items over the years. Went to Mass as well. Got to watch Indy 11 win 2-0 as well. Roy, belated condolences to your family. Still hot in Indiana. Maybe cool off tomorrow. I hope every one has a good day.
Thinkin' cool thoughts along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Every news outlet should hire "Captain Obvious" to talk about the weather. I tune them out. Was supposed to show yatchett today, but an enclosed fiberglass boat is the last place you want to be during this heat. Will try again in a couple weeks.
Spent yesterday painting the dining room at middle princess's castle. Came home to enjoy steaks and beans on the grill, and washed them down with cold Hamm's.
Speaking of the sun, on youtube tv watched the first solar train. It is in a resort area of Australia, and uses the panels on top of heritage passenger equipment. This would actually make sense in coastal areas, with no grades. Either way, it was interesting; and I'm a skeptic, at best.

Rain and lower temps are on the way. Spent most of the day oiling, greasing and dusting the standard gauge equipment. Ran the new tank cars and then all the Christmas cars (old and new). I hope everyone has a good day.

Thank you guys, for your prayers for my bride. She is still sore but at least it is not worse. I am going back to work tomorrow and the kids will be here if she needs anything.
One of the guys who have been bringing solid fill dropped off about 7 tons of dirt, and may have more this coming week. We’ll be spreading it this week, and the spot we’re leveling is starting to take shape.

Well back from Akron Ohizo. They said it was hot there, 97 Sat, seemed normal to me.
Services Friday for my uncle were beautiful and poignant. Saw a lotta (remaining) family. Spent 5 hrs Sat with one of my older cousins going through the family history stuff she has going back into the 1800's. I ended up with some duplicate photos (like a wedding photo of my great grandmother), and made copies of other photos (the Kistlers Donuts bakery, the family farm - long bulldozed for a mall and being bulldozed again for a housing development - and old family reunions). Plus she found a roll of undeveloped film a while back that turned out to be pictures my father's family took on vacation down in Florida somewhere around 1935/1936. And they developed when she had it processed a couple years ago. A few marks on the exposures but they are good. She gave them all to me.
Sat night, younger 2nd cousin and I went down to Portage Lakes to a friend of his that lives on the lake, hoisted a couple of brews - toasted my uncle, and took an evening boat ride.
I spent some time with a younger cousin from Scotland relating stories of near death falls/cracked ribs. We agreed that the old saying "your life flashes before your eyes" is absolutely false. My throughts were "so this is how it ends" and his were "I really messed up dint I".

Hello there, 94 on the patio when we left for the drags at 1PM, 82 1230am when we returned.
Son skipped racing and made hay, 22 round bales, took a lot of time because he had to take the bales to a place they wouldn't roll away to kick them out of the baler.
Today had about 150 square bales to bale for my daughter's goats but weather didn't cooperate. It was hot and muggy with sporadic sun and no wind, hopefully the predicted storms will be light and we can bale it tomorrow.
Son found a new use for a patio umbrella..
Attendance was way off at the drags. Grandson won both of his regular classes, he went out of the dial in class in the 3rd round with a red light and a breakout.

Mornin' FellasWell we are officially without a house. Closing was Friday, went smooth, then TheQ and I loaded up the old sectional from my house in Pittsburgh and hauled it to the dump. New futon arrived Saturday while we were out running ehrands... went to put it together and it is missing one of the side arms... not happy as replacement part will not arrive till later in the week and there is no way to use it without the side arms.Had a nice surprise chat with Fife Friday prior to final walkthrough.TheQ headed out yesterday to Raleigh to an audit, so the kids and I spent an hour at the pool, then went shopping for a new swimsuit for Christina and then stopped and picked up pizza at a new-to-us place called Manhattan Pizza. Not bad. Kids and I spent the evening eating pizza and chips and salsa while watching Dumbo... sans seating. Good time.

Back to our 'primary location' for a doctor's appointment to find out the results of the 30 day heart monitor. Just finishing up a second round of antibiotics for whatever bug it was that I caught. Finally feeling pretty much normal - though, some will say that I will never be 'normal'.
My wife and I sure were glad we were at our 'alternate location' last week where we have a lake available to dip into to midicate the heat.
Nothing new on the train front.

All went good at the surgical center this morning. One polyp removed, good to go for 5 more years. They also fixed my throat problem. Got home and took a nap.
Been kind of out of it most of the day but glad to get to eat!

Daughter moving to new apt. Went over and assisted the movers they hired to move big boxes and furniture. Hourly gang. Got 'er done in an hour and 10 min. Now just small stuff to pack and schlep.

Thanks guys, I have had many polyps over the years and like ten scope jobs. As much as I hate the process it is probable these procedures have saved my life over the years.
Good Afternoon.....Twas a very HOT weekend, Saturday I did ALL the yard work and later in the afternoon, Jenni and I took off for the Delsea Drive In in Vineland, NJ (This what she wanted for her birthday, so, that's what we did). Just before we got to the drive in, we stopped in to the the Palace of Depression (https://m.facebook.com/thepalaceofdepression/) for some photos and a quick look see (it was closed).We took the roadrunner and kept the top up, it was way too hot to have it down. Ride down was nice, hot and uneventful. The double feature under the stars was Spiderman: Far From Home and Annabelle Comes Home. We left at 0100, I had a motel in Bridgeton about 20 minutes away, we had the top down and it was still 89F. Spent the night, had breakfast at a diner outside of town and cruised on home, stopping for gas and water.....some idiot in a GLI from NY thought he was all that and at 105 MPH, I was at minimum 10 cars away from him. He saw a whole lot of my tail lights....We stopped at Urgent care for Jenni, she slipped on Thursday and Friday her foot was aching very bad and had got worse over the of the weekend, she has a fracture and is in a walking boot from 4 to 6 weeks.Had a calzone for dinner as we watched Fast and Loud where they re-created the chase scene from Bullett....and STILL had to slow the Dodge down as it was still faster than the Mustang.....lol.
Yesterday, the system went down nationwide and I waited until 445 to leave, then the system came back up. And, as usual, I had already punched out.......
It was in the mid 90s most of the day, got to softball and got Jenni set up and comfortable and then the storms came. We went to Michael's (SPOOKY TOWN IS OUT!!) for some shopping then to dinner.Rained and stormed most of the night, still raining off and on for the most part now. Trees and wires down, traffic lights still out for the majority of my ride to work (Most of my travels are on I-295 in NJ, so it was a minor problem from home to the interstate).Cooled off, was 69F at 0600 this morn at home, 68F here in the shadow of Philadelphia. Should all be done by tomorrow night. We'll see if softball is on or not then.Hope to get the Jetta financed and bought this week, payment for 4 years at $261/month, certified pre-owned. All goes back to money...lol!
