Layout plans from back issues
Posted by AlanPostWar on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 4:24 PM

I am going to order some back issues, mainly for the layout plans. From the PDF files I have printed out there could be more specifics regarding wiring for insulated blocks. One shows using a Lionel infrared controller for controlling an insulated block, nothing regarding proper wiring.

Do the actual paper magazines go into more detail, or is there an assumption all subscribers are experts.

HI Alan,

There likely will not be any more information in the printed version than in the PDF.

If you have quesions regarding the use or wiring of Lionel infrared signals, please contact me at the magazine for help.

Sincerely,

Roger Carp

Well it's been a while, finally getting around to laying things out. This is an old posting https://cs.trains.com/ctt/f/95/t/193372.aspx that I replied to regarding using a Lionel infrared controller in place of the 153C. Trying to figure out what wire would go where on the controller since the 153C has only three. Auxillary power and ground come from the transformer it's the others NC NO ACC/PWR ACC GND that have me baffled. I will be using a 153 block signal assuming NC and NO are still used for green and red lamps.

I have in the past had success with using Lionels Multiple Train Operation page 29 1954?? manual with the 153 block signal, green to post 1 red to post 2 and post 3 to B or C

Page 29 of the Lionel Operation manual (yellow and blue) 1953 shows multiple train operation with a 153 block signal. On an older discussion from 2011 it was mentioned a 153IR could be substituted for the 153C. I responded with a question how to do this since the 153C only has three terminals, it still has not posted, might be too old a discussion, it showed waiting for approval.
Any ideas?
