Lionel 2100 Reading T1 question
Posted by trains2353 on Sunday, April 14, 2019 2:23 PM

I have a Lionel Reading 2100 T1 steamer. In the cab it has a single plug which can get plugged in on the right or left. I have no idea what it is for. Nothing in the instructions say anything about it. Enclosed is a copy of the page that shows it, but doesnt say anything about it. Any one know what it does? TIA

Bob

Yep i know. It is for the E-Unit. Plugged in one side the unit cycles. Plugged into the other side it turns the unit off so it will stay in whatever position it was in when you unplugged it. Check way back for info on the early 2020 it worked the same way.

Thank you! Odd the instructions did not tell you that. It cycles now, so I'll let it be.

Sorry, was away away from everything due to my wife passing away. So I didn't see your email. I still have the T1. Trying to get instructions for it.

Bob, so sorry for your loss. Prayers Angel

The release of the T1 was a pretty big deal at the time. The Lionel foray into scale size steam locos. When I unpacked it the size of it blew me away. They also released a traditional sized Reading loco at the same time which I also procured. I still have both locos. It is correct that the plug is for the reverse capability (eunit cycling) or reverse lockout.

Here is a link to the instruction sheet. interesting that the instructions show the plug in the cab with left and right positions but no mention of what it is for!
