Hey, got locked out AGAIN last week and reset my password and now I can get back in......?????

The Wreck-fest 500, at least no Mopar were hurt in the ensuing mele......

So the table is up, had to cut it 2 more times and it is standing on it's own, my measurements were spot on and everything fits.  Next time I have to bring in 8' wood or sheet rock, it'll be in 2' sections.  Insualtion within the month, sheetrock when funds allow.

Track plan will be taking a hit, might have to condense to 1 inner loop and an O48 outer traversing both tables and heading north.  Looks like there will not be enough room for the dog bone in O36 to accompany the O48 all away around the table, but I need to get the foam for the big table and that will be Friday night along with the support wood.

Back at it, 1 more to do and I exit stage right.....

Mrs was off today for Presidents day. Slept late, mass and breakfast at Denny' s with another couple.

Then home for more sortn and chuckn at the town house. Did some shopping last week for new bathroom fixtures. Demo starts soon.

Good Evening from 30°F Southern Ohio,

 

Back on nightshift.  One of the guys made fried chicken and mashed potatoes, real good.  I’m going to extend the lunch break a bit so they can enjoy the meal.

 

I was pretty busy over the weekend.  I got the 3 rail laid on the foam and temporarily wired up.  I located the places where the voltage drop was evident and add a power tap.  Runs real well.  The foam board does make the trains quieter.  I’ll give the AF 2 rail a cleaning then get it down and do the same with it.

 

We’re going to get 6 layer chicks as our hens now are about 2 ½ years old.  They will be 3 years or so when the chicks start laying.  Probably get more Barred Rocks.  The days are getting longer so the egg production is picking up.

 

Rich - Small layout like the size we’re building do have some advantages, but do have limitations.

 

Banks - Your mom looks great for 98!  May God bless her!  Congrats to Granddaughter too! Oh yea, thanks for the video, it did help.  Turns out I’m not going to get the track pliers.  I was able to snug the pins without the track pliers

 

Kev - I know what you mean.  I love to walk out in our woods for the same reasons.  I’d expect to start to finding sheds soon.  One of our regulars has lost his rack.

Looks like Saturday is housework/laundry and layout day, Sunday I have to run down to Delaware to check on the roadrunner.  My friend thinks there is a gas leak, he aired out the trailer and there was gas outside the tailgate.  

Gotta run back to the scan, slow morning, but I'm sure it will escalate to ridiculousness soon enough.

Good Evening from and overcast 33°F Southern Ohio,

 

There is a “Super Moon” out tonight.  Too bad it’s overcast but it still really bright.

 

I set up the brooder today and I’ll get some chicks in the next few days depending on the weather.

 

Putting together a few wiring blocks for the layout to simplify the wiring.  On the first layout every wire came back to the control panel and was not efficient use of resources.

 

I bought another Marx set.  It is a tin plate with the 999 engine.  Usually a very robust engine.  It is a non-smoker so you put it on the rails and let it run. 

 

Buckeye - Happy Birthday!  I’ll send my address to your estate lawyer

 

Kev - We’re to get the same wintery mix tonight.  My drive home in the morning could be interesting.  If the relief shift does not make it in I’ll be sticking around for a while.  You can keep the rooster for just the reason you mentioned.  They are noisy.  I’ll just stick with the hens, they just tear up the flower beds.

 

Banks - Good tip on the Reds, thank you.  I’ll see what is available.  I’m really partial to the barred rocks.  Production wise they not the greatest, but their friendly nature is an asset since we have a lot of folks stopping by all the time.

Busy day today.  Made worse by a wasted hour in a meeting that I did not need to attend.  Also, Pain 1 did nothing yesterday and decided to dump all her work today in my lap on my busiest day of the week!!!!   So glad she is retiring soon and maybe Pain 2 will leave as well.  Then peace and serenity will reign supreme.......yeah, right.  Weather ok for walk but will turn messy overnight.  May stay home tomorrow.  I hope everyone has a good day (sure hope I have one soon....)

Under yet another state of emergency for snow and rain.  It'll all be gone by 7 PM as a warm front moves in and all this mayhem will be done by then.

V8 - Been there, done that.  Florida did away with it completely and now NJ has anything older than 1993 exempt.  My "INSPECTION" is due again in 2020 for my Magnum R/T Hemi.  The roadrunner is a classic car and has been exempt for many years.

Not much else happening as of yet, but give it time.

Good afternoon all, cold (for here) day in SoCal.  Rain coming tonight and tomorrow.  They say the snow level might come down as low as 2000 feet.  Might see some snow on the foothills just above me.  That hasn't happened in a long time.  My blood oxygen levels are at least fair for now without adding any.  Went to morning mass and discussion group afterward and got through that OK.  I had to go on oxygen yesterday during the day to give myself a boost.  Taking one day at a time.

Be glad when it warms up a little so I can get out to the garage and play with the trains.  Will have to use O2 out there if I need it but I'm not giving up yet.

A friend of mine just sold a AA set of SP daylight Alco PA's by MTH proto one.  I thought about buying them but talked myself out of it.  He let them go for a steal.  I would have taken them at that price but did not want to insult him with an offer like that.  Apparently someone else didn't mind.

We have our Dixieland Jazz meet coming up Sunday afternoon.  Always look forward to listening to the good time music.  Our membership is like train collectors.  We are all getting old and no young blood is coming in.

Got new neighbors moved in next door.  Seem like nice people.  They have two yapper dogs though that bark at me everytime I go out the front door and that sets off another yapper across the street and then they keep barking until they get tired.  You would think they would get to know me after a while.  Some dogs are stupid.

Evening folks!

The sun came out and we made it to 50, so we grilled some salmon this evening. Came out perfect! Flakey! 

Spent the day upgrading and attempting to upgrade 3 shop MTH TIUs and handhelds to the latest version V6.10. Was 2 for 3. The 384E I repaired appears to have a bad infrared speed detector. Everything else works but it cannot regulate speed at all. Wants to launch when placed in forward or reverse. I got a couple of spares so back to the bench...

Hello there,

yesterday Son and I spent a couple of hours replacing hangers on about 12 feet of gutter on the barn roof. Last snow pulled it lose.

Not sure what caused it but I spent a couple of hours running at both ends last evening. Still kinda blah today.

.Got about 7 inches of snohio from 530 am till noon. Then the cannon misfired another 2 inches of sleet. Turned to freezing rain about dark and still coming. Supposed to get up to 40 and rain hard overnight. Son plowed and I shoveled a bit while it was still snowing. Left a little to make it easier to get the ice off.

Of course Mrs was home today and already has a 2 hour delay tomorrow. We did a little more sortn and chuckn today.

Roy............65 amps at 12 volts!!!!! What size wire you use for that???

Fife.......hope you got all your issues resolved.

Good Morning from an overcast 41°F Southern Ohio,

 

It is not raining right now but due to start again any time.  There is a lot of flooded areas.  The ravines out back have running water in them.  I put the curtains my bride made for the train room up today.  Makes for a nice touch.  Worked on another wiring block.  I’d like to start getting the AF track down on the layout.  We got a new dehydrator as the old one went on the fritz.  I had the jerky mix ready when the old dehydrator broke so it was a simple squirt with the jerky gun and go.

 

Time to finish up the paperwork from the nights activities

Looking forward to York in the spring.  Without the Legacy meeting on Friday that should make it a lot easier day.  All the pre preperation and that fact I'm usually up way early and tired by noon.

Bright sun but cold, 28 only getting to 32.  50s for Saturday should help melt it. Just got my hairs cut this morning. Otherwise not much on the to do list.

 I wonder if Roger Carp knows he is hijacking every post put out here with a question? I understand he wants material for the Q&A part of the mag but it seems to me the way he jumps on every question post makes it very discouraging for anyone to try to answer the OP’s question. His wording makes it sound like only he can help and I am noticing not many are responding to questions now. Wonder how long it takes a person to get an answer? I would think he could change his wording to still get what he wants for the mag and still promote forum input. Maybe they want you to buy the mag if you want an answer?? What do we know anyway? End of rant.

I also wonder how many will be accepted by his Q&A editor. I also agree with Kevin that it seems answer stop coming to post asking questions and also once he ask the poster to call him. We do not get his response either. also as he said ther is a lot of readers who don't come to the forum, it could also be accepted that there are forum readers who do not buy the magazine. So they also get missed out on the answer.
