Anyone run into issues with the Lionchief power supply not compatible with legacy cars? I have a K-Line Santa and Reindeer car (first issue) that just doesn't light up on my Christmas layout using the 4W Lionel DC PS. Sent the car for repair thinking it was defective all worked fine at the shop. Doesn't work on my layout. I know there are 2 boards in the car as the crossing lights alternate and Rudolf's nose blinks. Wondering now if it's an AC vs DC issue. Thoughts?
That small power supply shipped with LionChief sets is barely adequate for the train in the set. If you are going to be adding other things on you need a real power supply or train transformer like a CW-80 or a postwar transformer.
I currently use a new ZW (2 - 180W bricks) for my LionChief/LionChief+, which I also use for my TMCC set up. I run 2 loops of track.
There is nothing wrong with more power when it comes to trains.
