Looking for junker Lionel #6310 Shell tank car
Posted by Benjamin Maggi on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 1:57 PM

I have an old Lionel Shell #6310 yellow tank car. It is labeled S.O.C.X. and 6310 in red lettering on the sides, and it has a red shell emblem. The two ends are removable. It is molded in yellow plastic with red imprinting and a basic formed steel frame.

Though a cheap car, it has a lot of sentimental value. One end cap for the tank is missing. I have purchased a spare Lionel part but painting it to match the yellow of the car (a translucent yellow) has been impossible.

Does anyone have one of these old cars perhaps in their junk pile that would be willing to sell me an end from? I would rather not purchase an intact car on EBay.

Thank you.

Turns out the part was close but not exact. It doesn't fit, and it doesn't have the molded handrail along the top. So, the search continues.
