Just an idea here: Why not have the TAMR team up with some of the really large advertisers in CTT and OGR, and any other interested merchants, to offer a free membership in TAMR to anyone under 21 who buys a certain amount of merchandise over the course of a year. I'd aim low, like make it so that if someone spends a total of $75 at any combination of the participating merchants, they can earn enough "TAMR points" to join for free. To carry this off, the TAMR would have to discount its memberships to the merchants' program, so that instead of $15, it might only cost the merchants $7.50 or something like that. Then, merchants could be free to offer "extra TAMR points" to under 21 buyers for various sales and price blowouts... etc. When I was 11 years old, I would not have parted with $15 to save someone's life, let alone to join a club. I'm sure it's totally worth the $15, but I was so tight-fisted with money then (because, duh, I had very little of it), that I did not spend it for anything. My parents and sisters used to call me a miser. Now, I spend $15 for lunch. But I am not 11 anymore either.

Hey snell50,

Chris told me about TAMR and for $15 its a great value. Being able to meet and work with other knowledgable people, that is valuable. Then to be able to get into train shows that cost $6-$20 that pays for it right there. With connections I bet someone will sell something you want at a discount for being connected, that will pay for it.

Chris I did write the west coast rep and the email bounced. Do you have a better one than the one on the website. Joseph is what the website said.

Dan that is a good idea, but it might have to be a little higher although a smart dealer would find it a great value for him to do it for $75-$100. Guarantee a future customer, that would more than pay for the $15 fee.

Lastly, snell50 you seem very smart and nice, but sorry to say my Chargers are going to send your Jets home with a different result than earlier in the season. San Diego is Pittsburgh bound. And yes I bet you two toots on that ![:D]

Tim (can you believe these Chargers are 12-4 ??)

Hey Tim,

Good Morning. I will get you the new Weast coast Rep's email, or even the new president, as he was the rep. I'll do it as soon as I get home.

Regards,
Chris

Hey Ya'll

I say join. I am not going to join stuff like that until I have my layout up and running.
I am 13. I have loved Lionel Trains since playing with my aunts since christmas time.

My dad has recently got into trains and we have agreed that the layout can't be built until we have a Postwar Santa Fe 2343 F3 A-A with 4 Postwar Super Speed Linel Cars.

Do you have a layout snell50?

I am going to try to enroll a kid I know as a "gift membership" that I will pay for. I got a money order at the post office and printed out the membership form. I am going to fill it out with this kid's name and address, and send it in with the money order and a note saying that it is a gift membership bought by an anonymous friend of the kid. Maybe this can start a new trend: "Buy a kid his or her first membership in TAMR".

I got the money order on the way home from work today and I will get this in the mail to TAMR tomorrow.
