How does one check in-process orders to prevent double ordering. I am specifically asking about the Christmas special issue which I thought that I had ordered.
KL, right now all subscriber accounts are temporarily "frozen" because we are moving to a different customer service company. (They will be unfrozen on Nov. 15.) For the fastest answer, I suggest calling to check on your order(s): 877-243-4903.

I got mine in the mail today, along with Mountain Railroading, the latest SIP by CT. Both look fantastic!
Trains, trains, wonderful trains. The more you get, the more you toot!
I picked up the special issue "Christmas and Electric Trains" on Monday.
It's a masterpiece! Roger Carp and all involved hit a "home run" with this one!
A bittersweet note: Bob Kellers "swan song" is in this one. It's called "Santa & Toys, Riding Yuletide Rails To Home," a collection of vintage railroad advertising advising people to "take the train" home for the holidays. Beautifully done.
Bob left us at the top of his game.
I'm in the middle of reading (studying with a magnifying glass is a better description) that particular article. I paused to play on the net for awhile.
Penny Trains I got mine in the mail today, along with Mountain Railroading, the latest SIP by CT. Both look fantastic!
How long did it take from the time you ordered it to receive it? I was late ordering mine and just placed my order a few days ago.

Becky, as good as Bob's article is in a way he barely scratched the surface.
Let me recommend a book to you, and everyone else for that matter. Maybe you've got it already? It's called "All Aboard for Christmas" by Christopher Jennison, published in 2004 by Harry N. Abrams Incorporated, New York.
Chock-full of Christmas train (and toy train) stories by various authors, it's a superb read. And, it's full of those classic railroad ads, some you don't need a magnifying glass to read! Lot's of fun, trust me!

September 29th for both SIP's. To quote the email: "Mountain Railroads is currently on back order. Expected ship date is 10-19-2018" and "Christmas and Electric Trains is currently on back order. Expected ship date is 10-26-2018"
Firelock76 "All Aboard for Christmas" by Christopher Jennison
I'll be looking for that tome! Thanks!
I got my copy of "All Aboard For Christmas" from an outfit called Collectors Companion of Mechanicsville VA. They used to display at the antique shows and flea markets here in Virginia until it got to be too much of a hassle to drag all those collector books to shows. They may have some copies left. Here's the website...
www.collectorscompanion.com Very nice guys too. If you collect it chances are they've got a book on it. I was always amazed.
Amazon has several. Guess I'll go do some shopping!
That's the one! Trust me, you'll love it! Not just the illustrations but the writings selected are first-rate! Nostagic, humorous, bittersweet, and just plain sweet. All timeless.
I am working my way through mine, now, too.
I have two comments, so far, neither one particualrly negative but both pointing out a couple things that need to change.
One: I recently had eye surgery, and, until I did, I hadn't noticed how hard some fonts are to read, especially at small sizes. It's not only CTT: almost every publication I read these days needs to print larger type and avoid hard-too-read fonts and color combinations (especially white text on light colors). I don't know if I will ever be able to read all the text in this special edition or the regular issues from now on. Your readers are getting older, guys: have mercy on our eyes.
Two: Despite all the stereotypes of the older boomers, the association of Christmas and trains did not end in 1960. I'm a late boomer, born in '64, and I got a Marx electric set that year. My first Lionel came in 1972. I poured over the catalogs, too, and I went to see the store displays. Keep us younger boomers in mind.
