Those $25 CL ads
Posted by Boyd on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 11:49 PM

I have multiple auto searchs on CL for key words for items I look for. Lionel being one of them. An add pops up today showing a K-Line DM&IR set with switcher and ore hoppers,,, a 90’s Lionel starter set with 4-4-2 steamer plus some buildings & HO stuff is pictured. I email as the ad is confusing me as to wether it’s everything for $25 or what. Emails exchange as I tried to get a better understanding as to what is there and for how much. Through multiple replies I get little information but she gives out her St.Paul address and says first come first served, then someone is coming. I drive there and the other party is there buying everything. Of course I’m very polite and say thank you and I leave. I have just wanted to get some DM&IR ore cars but they are normally  priced high,, seemingly too high for such a small car. Well good for the young man who beat me to it. I’m not poor in the train department. But still frustrated.

Only CL train listing around here want like $500.00 for about a train set worth maybe if your lucky $100.00. They think wow it's Lionel it's worth a lot.

I've seen those ridiculously high prices on Amazon, ebay, OfferUp!, AND Craig's List.  I don't know if any of them ever sell, but I'd be amazed if they did.

I've found a couple good CL train scores. Got a 6518 machinery car with box for $35.
