MTH Electric Trains has announced it will wind down its Lionel Corp. Tinplate line in 2019 after the two firms were unable to agree on a new licensing arrangement.
The online version of the final Lionel Tinplate catalog is here.
MTH's press release has more details, and can be accessed here.

Good evening all,
Only one word: Dang! The press release did say they would keep all tooling so maybe the Tinplate Traditions will be revived.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Before the agreement with Lionel MTH made these trains with their brand name on them. I'm thinkin that is what they will go back too and the line will still exist.

I kind of got that impression from the MTH release myself, the tinplate line will stay in production, it just won't have the Lionel name on it.
Mike Wolf is a big tinplate fan himself, so unless the line is a money-loser I can't see him dropping it.
