Anyone seen that documentary about Mister Fred Rogers Yet?        There is a "BREIF" scene where a boy is shown playing with a Lionel Train then the film breaks

It is part of the documentary as it explains how puppets would come to play in his neighborhood All I remember seeing is a smilin boy three rail track and a ZW. It was from stock footage or something

I haven't seen the Mr. Rogers film and with all due respect to the man I'm not planning to.  I didn't grow up with Fred Rogers so I'm really not interested.

On the other hand, if someone comes out with a "Captain Kangaroo" documentary THAT'LL be a whole 'nother story!

By the way, the Captain had a Lionel layout on his show!  I've been trying to find a "You Tube" video of the layout in operation but so far, no luck.

I DO remember seeing it as a child.

If memory serves me correctly he was a Marine Corp combat veteran. Bow

As copied from snoops.com

Mr. Rogers was a U.S. Navy Seal, combat proven in Vietnam with over twenty-five confirmed kills to his name. He wore a long sleeve sweater to cover the many tattoo’s on his forearm and biceps. A master in small arms and hand-to-hand combat, able to disarm or kill in a heartbeat.

No, that's not true.  Bob Keeshan (Captain Kangaroo)  joined the Marines when he graduated high school in 1945, however by the time he finished boot camp the war had ended, so his boot camp series (company) was immediately transferred to the Marine reserves upon graduation, they weren't needed on active duty anymore, the post-war draw-down being imminent.

That being said, he was still a Marine, he passed the test of boot camp.   Thumbs Up

After seeing film I beleive the tatoo thing is wrong

The purpose of my statement

When he decided to get into television he had a fixed budget  for props etc so he would show films from stock sources.  As show is in the documentary a film of a boy playing with(CLEARLY)Lionel trains is shown the film then broke during  a LIVE broadcast so he and his future wife had to get something on air since it was live hence puppets enter the world of Mister Rogers

At any rateI bring this here to ask  WHAT FILM is being shown A promo film Episode of a TV show Commercial long lost? That is if anyone has seen the film

Go see the film and see for yourself

There is an over sized bust of Fred Rogers in Pittsburgh. You can see it as you head to the Carnegie Science Center ( and a Fantastic 3 rail O gauge layout).

One of the local boys that made it big. Along with Andy Warhol.
