I whould like comments on Lionel Fastrack, can it be cut to shorter lengths? and the pins removed, then reinserted in the newly created length? I am wanting to cut a seven inch length.

I think that the easiest way to do this is to cut 3 inches out of the middle of a 10-inch piece, then solder together the rails that include the unaltered connectors, which are rather more complicated than the simple pins of traditional tubular track.  If you intend to fasten the track to a layout table, you may not need to splice the plastic roadbed pieces together.

Hello Bob,

Thanks for your responce to my inquiry. This seems the way to go about fabricating a seven inch length of rail ,and whould also keep the connectors in shape without removal.
