Man, that sounds like fun! Wish I (hey, all of us!) could be there.
Tell Carl to bring back lotsa pictures, OK?
What a Great show and turn out for the first ever International Toy Train Expo! Nice balance of vendors and layouts with plenty of room to move around! I got to meet Carl Swanson and Mark Wood (The Menards Train Guy). Next year I’ll look to meet John Menard and his dog, Jack! It was nice to see a show of this magnitude and size come to the mid-western states. Put me down for next year - I’m IN!!!
One thing about trains: It doesn't matter where they’re going. What matters is deciding to get on.
The LION was there, and said Hello. Drove from Richardton ND to Eau Clair in one day. the 15" trains on Sunday were awesome.
Then went to Duluth for two days (four knights), Some nice train stuff there, and some nice ships to sea too. LION used to be in NAVY, ewe know.
It was a 12 hour drive (scenic routes) from Duluth to Lake Metagoshe on the ND-Canada border. Border patrol went by several; times. The north end of the lake is in Canada.
Reminded me of a Conneticut lake rather than an ND lake. Too old to go in the water, I can hardly keep my balance on the shore.
From there I went to Cartwright ND to examine the only lift bridge and train tunnel in North Dakota. To bad it was never used for trains. Army Corps of Engineers built a lake in its path instead.
I wanted to see an American Flyer Layout at the show, but that was not to be.

And everyone else, do yourselves a favor and check out the Lion's links highlighted on the bottom of his post. You'll enjoy them, his modeling, his art, and his humor, trust me!
