Let us assume that funds are no problem and the size, construction and location of the layout are not a factor, what would be your 3 "T"s quest?
Track...Trains...Transformer

Track: Atlas O long straights and O54 to O72 curves, passing sidings and interlockings. A 4 track main to represent the NEC near where my grandparents lived and my Great Grandfather and Grandfather both worked for the PRR.
Trains: All Lionel, TMCC/Legacy. Ultimately PRR scale T1 Duplex and CNJ Blue Comet, throw in a scale Legacy Polar Express for good measure. Roster would include CNJ, PRR, C&O/B&O with a NW and WM for good measure. Should be able to run everything from 1942 to the present.
Transformer: ZW, ZW-L. Again, TMCC and Legacy is a must.

Track - Atlas O for me too with a massive yard and all command control switches.
Trains - I like modern power, so I would have a stable full of SD70ACe's and ES44AC's pulling one of each Husky Stack ever made! I'd like a nice long grain train too.
Transformer - Legacy with multiple PowerHouse power supplies.

Trains: Lionel-all eras.
Transformer: Lionel and whatever I need. KW's, ZW's, TW's, LW's...

Since I am in S-Scale my track is American Models.
Trains: Anything in S-scale from Flyer, to Lionel Flyer, American Models, MTH etc.
Transformers Flyer 30Bs, 19Bs, 17Bs and 12Bs. I already have TMCC/Legacy and MTH DCS
For me:
Track is Lionel FasTrack (I like the scale look of the ballast and switch lanterns).
Trains include Lionel & MTH conventional, MTH DCS & just purchased my first Lionel Legacy engine. Mostly steam and a few diesels. We also have some LionChief for the Christmas tree layout.
Transformer is an MTH Z-4000 with DCS control with Wi-Fi control. I‘ve recently added Legacy control to DCS as well.

For track I use traditional tinplate: K-Line 042 curves and 36" straights, and Williams 031 curves. These all have ties that are as close together as Lionel's 072. I like the "prewar display" look it gives the layout. For switches I use Lionel #042 and #722 manual switches.
Trains: Lionel postwar and MPC, Williams and MTH - all conventional.
Transformer: MTH Z4000
Ross switches/Gargraves track
TMCC/Legacy
Lionel and MTH engines(MTH converted to TMCC)
Track: Traditional postwar tubular 027 Lionel brand track
Trains: Postwar Lionel 027 trains
Transformer: Postwar Lionel transformers (LW and others)

I got to thinking about this today and took it all the way to creating my "treasure chest", "railroad in a box", penultimate 8 car postwar Lionel freight set with accessories:
I have no idea what a behemoth set like this would have cost back in the day, but it would cost me a couple grand to put it together nowadays!

Trains: Lionel (contemporary trains decorated in Canadian liveries)
Transformers: Postwar ZW; ZW-L; KW, plus TMCC, Legacy, etc.The dream layout would measure about 200' wide by 250' in length, and would be "serpantine" in shape, with the main lines winding through a meandering route through a massive railyard, a smaller yard serving lakeside coal and grain facilities; two sizable towns (one featuring a massive cereal plant served by long sidings built into a long street); a long passing siding serving oil fields; a coal/iron ore facility; a few long, scratchbuilt bridges; and at least three tunnels measuring between 25 and 75 feet in length. Structures would be a mix of Lionel and scratchbuilt. No grades, to reduce risk of derailments.
A nearly-identical "dream layout" would share the same dimensions and track plan as the one above, but would feature winter scenery, postwar Lionel/Marx pieces, and feature Deptartment 56 structures.It's fun to speculate about these things!

my T's actually my Achilles heel, I'm so OCD about these.
1 Train sets, what could be better, they have everything a boy could dream of.
2 A new accessory, preferrably an operating one, but that's not a deal killer.
3 Much more room, for everything evergrowing,
