Lionel 6467 miscellaneous car with 6511 flatcar.

Homemade? Came from ebay in a nice 6467 box. Car has the bulkheads. Someone build this one or did Lionel use a 6511 by error?

Is the car marked 6511 on the side of the car in white lettering?
Or do you mean the car is marked 6511 (cast into) the underside?

Here is some info on the 6467. it is made from a 6511 mold but if it is original it should say 6467 on the side.

Thanks for the info. It has 6511 on the sides. It has the correct trucks and holes in the body. I'll get some pics of it posted.

Looking forward to the photos.
I can tell you that the bulkheads have been reproduced.
Whether original or reproduction, if I recall correctly, it would be very simple for an individual to mount bulkheads to most flatcars.
I made up a few myself, using aftermarket flatcar bodies made by Geller.

To me I would guess that someone added them to the flat car which is suppose to have stakes on the sides and pipes as cargo. And for the box the wrong car got put in a wrong box or because they wanted to make that one a bulkhead car they put it in the box. who knows the original bulkhead car could of got destroyed or lost some how. I do not believe a collector would believe it as a factory era. Not saying it couldn't happen but I seriously doubt it.

Thanks for all the info. I was thinking about just making it into a 6511 with the stakes, but then I would have to find the correct truck mounting plates.

Someone sure went to alot of trouble to change it to a 6467. If I could find a 6467 frame, I'd be in good shape.

From what I can see they both have same type of trucks and mounting plates

The tabs are different on the mounting plates. They are tall to hold the bulkheads on the bulkhead flat.
If it was my car, I would just use it as is. It's not a collectors item.

That sounds like a plan. It'll make a good runner.
