Lionel 1122 switch controllers - NEED HELP!
Posted by MRP on Sunday, December 3, 2017 4:59 PM

I have a set of 1122 switches that work fine. My problem is this. The switch controllers that came with them are the ones you typically see with the 022 switches. While  the 1122 switches themselves work fine they do not work correctly (move from one track to the other) with the controllrs I have. I know the 1122 switches originally came with a different switch controller. Is there a way I can get the ones I have to work or do I need to go find the original one?

You may have a simple wiring issue.
022 switches are made with the center terminal as the common.
1122 switches are made with the end terminal closest to the switch machine as the common.
Therefore, unless the 022C controllers were wired to match 022 switches, you will need to connect the center wire to the terminal closest to the switch machine, and the remaining two wires (outer) to the center and far terminal.
If the action is backwards, reverse those two outer wires.

You may also have a problem with the lamps in the 022 controller. The original bulbs draw about .25 amps, which may affect the switch motor. I'd take them out. They will not indicate on an 027 switch anyway. The 027 controller used a single bulb for both switches, and a mechanical system to indicate.

Based on what you're saying I definitely had the wiring wrong as I had the center wire connected to the wrong post. Thanks!
