I read where survivor installed and electric reversing switch in a Williams engine to enable engine to run both directions.  I wonder if he would share the make and model number of the switch and do you install it with the rectifier or remove the rectifier since the engine has DC can motors.  Thanks

 You can get a reversing board from Bachmann. An easy install and yes you would remove the rectifer. Part #00249 according to their catalog. Some Williams dealers might have the board in stock at a lower price. Shop around.

Bachmann would be a very last resort for me to purchase it from, even if I had to wait for a dealer to order it in. As most dealer reduce the price Bachmann says about 30% some more some a little less. If a dealer wants to charge what Bachmann does I would find another real quick. Don't get me wrong The products are nice but they charge way to much and even there suggested price is way to high for the product. Example Train world price for a Williams by Bachmann 44 ton engine is $269.99 Bachmann price for the same engine is $429.95

If it's the only locomotive on your track, and you don't need compatibility with others, you could move the rectifier upstream to the transformer, then do your reversing with a DPDT switch between the rectifier and the track, like HO and N modelers do.

The 103-1 reverse unit will work just fine. No extra rectifiers are needed, they are onboard the unit.
