I have an early model Polar Express 1225 with a smoking unit that emits a small stream of smoke when sitting idle and whn I turn the transformer up to about 50.
I have replaced the wick with new fiberglass and this did not correct the problem of no puffing smoke when the locomotive moves. This is not an electronic smoke unit.
Any ideas of what is happening, the baffle does move up and down when the train moves.
Cheers
Steve
Is the cam pushing the lever up and the spring pushing the Piston down? Are the holes in the bottom of the smoke unit clear? Is the smoke wadding blocking the holes by any chance? Crust in the holes?
If the resistor is heating up and you're getting a stream of smoke but no puffing. It's got to be one of those issues I mentioned. It's all mechanical aside from the resistor.
