Bridging A Gap

I goofed when I made a "water" area at the back side of the postwar layout. I carefully sized it wide enough for the pillars of my Junior Bridge Company suspension bridge to rest on each shore, about 3/4" above the "water". This bridge spanned the outer loop of track and looks good in the background. It is a very nice looking piece.

 But I goofed in not considering the lengths of my girder bridges, one of which was intended to go across the "water" on the inner loop of track, where it would span the gap and not impede the view of the suspension bridge directly behind it.  I solved this issue using four Erector Set long base plates. I sized the length and width needed and screwed them together using appropriate holes, placed this assembly across the gap with the lips facing upward. I then centered the girder bridge on this assembly. Those who are more into the Hi-Rail side of the hobby may not care for this solution, but being on the toy side, I think it worked out well and loks pretty good. Especially so for being an after thought.

Barry, may I suggest a larger type font?  I'm in the middle of my 8th decade, but probably not the oldest on the forum.  The forum's default font is pretty reasonable.
