Marx 034 Turnouts
Posted by markdiegel on Saturday, April 8, 2017 6:33 PM

Are Marx 034 turnout thumbscrews on the side of the switch ? Is this the only way to determine if its a 034 switch ? Asking cause I'm buying online.  Thanks !!

Here is the O34 on top, O27 on the bottom.

Pics are noted correctly.  Besides the obvious post/thumbscrew location, the turnout section of the 034 extends significantly past the edge of the switch cover compared to the 027.

In the event you're not aware, be sure to add the white guide rail as shown in the pics, unless you're running Marx fat wheel locos.  Non-Marx diesels will often power through alright, but steam pilots and some rolling stock don't like the turnout without a guide rail.

Also, I've used Atlas #56 switch controlers instead of the original Marx - a fraction of the size of the Marx, and can be daisy chained directly together.
