And that loud crashing sound you hear in the west is the market value of old Lionel and American Flyer trains as "Collectibles". (Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.)
Photos of some of the items up for auction can be seen at www.estatesales.net
I have figured out what is wrong with my brain! On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!
I looked at the listing. Seems to be an estate sale, not an auction. I would think the folks would have done better using an outfit like Stout. I wonder why they went with a local estate sale outfit. According to the listing, the owner was an officer of the TTOS. So it's not like the collection was unknown. Nothing in the pictures jumped out at me as being great.Maybe the stuff has already been cherry picked. Maybe the family is keeping the good stuff.
This is the 2nd of two sales from the collection, so some of the rarest items may have been offered in the first round. What I get from the article is that although people were aware of the fact of a collection, no one including his family understood how large it was.
Makes you wonder what else might be out there somewhere, doesn't it?
