Plasticville boxes

(Our layout is traditional postwar O27 and Plasticville.)

Now and then, there comes a time when one needs more space.

Recently, we opened a carton and found a number of Lionel and Plasticville empty boxes that we had forgotten about.

There is no question about the Lionel postwar boxes since they belong to the rolling stock on display or in operation on the layout.

Question, however, is the Plasticville.  All the contents are in use on the layout and are pretty much in a permanent position.

Interested in your opinion.

If it were your choice. would you keep the Plasticville boxes?

Good question and I think the answer depends on the condition of the Plasticville.  If it is glued together so that it can not be easily disassembled, then the boxes are of little value.   However if the buildings can be taken apart and stored in the boxes, then there is some potential resale value down the line.   I hope everyone has a good day.

are the items glued together yes then no they won't fit back in the boxes, no then I probably would so I had something to put them back in if I had to.

You have had them long enough to forget about them so keep them. The original box is always better than a bagie.

if you don't want the boxes, offer them for sale...ebay,etc. probably not a retirement fund, but there are plenty of people that like boxes, like me.

My thoughts exactly.  My favorite boxes are the ones that have the sticker advertising the Disneyland contest.  They're a dual market collectible.

There are hard core Plasticville collectors that search for boxes. Not great value but you can probably sell them if you do not want them. At the York show there are several purveyors of Plasticville and much of it is in plastic bags. The boxes can double or triple what one pays for a building.
