Posted by trains2353 on Friday, March 3, 2017 9:41 AM

Anyone ever see or use replacement struts for a Lionel 56?

Also need a compete set of 4 of the white hand rails.

TIA.

The replacement struts are currently made by Joe Mania: http://www.jlmtrains.com/new_items.htm

I've used them. The results are good. Now folks have something else to check for when they are buying one of those small locos.

Last I knew, the handrails were readily available, but I have not tried to buy any in a long time.
I see them on George Tebolt's list. I did not see them on Train Tender's. Might not have looked in the right place.

Thanks for the info. I'll order a set from him.

I picked up a running 56 for $69 from ebay that needs struts and one rear handrail, but I figure I'll just get a set so they match.

I did locate a set of 4 at East Coast Train Parts. Says they come with rivets. Will give a report when they arrive.

Just for the heck of it today, I went on ebay and put in search " Lionel window struts" and came up with an auction from "Trainz" that showed some red ones for 2 something each. I bought 4. I can paint them if needed. He still has more as the auction was relisted if anyone needs any.
