Thanks for all the replys regarding changing the cord on a Lionel TW. As it turned out almost all of the wires originally soldered by the factory to the top of the transformer had to be unsoldered to get the frame to lift off! Anyway I unsoldered them, lifted the frame and changed the cord. They did nnot make it easy! Now I have a #1033 that has no life whatsoever, no hum, no buzz, no nothing. I visually inspected all of the wires and they look good as does the original cord. Rather than try to turn the set screw on the circuit breaker I took some really fine sandpaper and cleaned the contacts. Still nothing. Does anyone know if the circuit breaker is the problem or do I have other issues. This is my personal transformer and I know the #1033's are inexpensive but it has now become a matter of principle! Your comments are appreciated. Steve
Well, I beleive I wrote that wires would have to be unsoldered on your TW.
As for your 1033, you could try bypassing the breaker with a test jumper. If it's bad, then replace the breaker with an automotive one.

You are correct, you did say I would need to unsolder some wires to get the top off my TW. I did and it lifted off. Once again thanks for your input and once again thanks to everyone who submitted replies. Steve
