American Flyer has a common mentality with their wiring. Green will be a primary function, red a secondary function, yellow for a light and black for the base.
In the case of the 751 the red will be for the solenoid that shoves the log into the grip of the log holder. The green goes to the motor the black is the base and the yellow to the lamp.

I found a drawing of the control button, can not send it but will try to tell you where the wires go
Lay the button down on a table in front of you bottom side up rear of box facing away from you
if correct position there will be five eyelets in row at back of control 1 thru 5 left to right
next row finger eyelet 6 green wire attaches here , a rectrangle bar 7 finger eyelet two yellow wires attach here one to loader one to transformer, 8,9,10 no, far right side finger eyelet red wire attaches there. I hope this makes sense to you, just be sure rear of box is away from you.
1 2 3 4 5
green 6 7 8 9 10 11 red
