Anyone have this loco? Is it scale, semiscale, or traditional? Do you love it? I am new to the hobby and realy like this loco. Let me know what you think. Thanks,

Jim

Jim,

This is a very nice locomotive. It is scale sized. I have one, conventional control version as they sold out the TMCC version. I see there is a command/RS upgrade kit available direct from Lionel. I need to get one.

It is an interesting change due to the big drivers. It seems to glide around the layout.

Regards,
Roy

I had one. It was nice, and better-proportioned than the MTH version, albeit less detailed. It seemed to capture the look of the PRR Atlantic much better than the MTH version, even w/o the added detail. The crosshead was a thing of beauty, and it had a quality feel to it. Nice sounds, too.

I have the command control version of this engine. I think the whistle is the best one I have heard in a Lionel engine. NOTE: I have not heard every Lionel whistle so there may be better ones, I just haven't heard them. I purchased it from an OGR Forum member who was not happy with the color. Looks fine to me.

One thing should be added to this, though: If this engine is anything like the Lionel's Pennsy K4 that was offered at about the same time (and that I bought), it isn't going to smoke worth a darn in conventional mode! I payed over $300.00 for my K4 and it just won't smoke when it's run conventionally.
