Unfortunately I can watch it, but I can't HEAR it.  I've got a bum soundcard and since this machine is ancient and runs Windows XP, there's no point fixing it.  So it's just one of those things I'll have to come back to when I get a new system sometime next year.  But it does LOOK cool though!  Big Smile

Ancient is good!

As an ancient person myself, I use identical ancient laptops, running Windows XP, at home and at work.  The company switched computers on me a while back and then discovered that they couldn't make the new one run the large amount of stuff that I need for my work.  We compromised:  I work on the old computers and move stuff to the new computer with a USB drive when I need to print it or e-mail it.

I also drive ancient cars.  The newest car I have ever owned was a 1971 Volvo 144S.  One time, when I went for the annual inspection for my 1962 P1800, the inspector couldn't even drive it into the bay.  After killing the engine the third time, he got out and announced to no one in particular, "There's not much to inspect on these old cars, anyway."  He got the inspection sticker, put it on the windshield, and I was done.

Ancient is good!

Hey, I'm with you!  Big Smile  But this is primarily a business machine and mom needs the next version of Quickbooks which won't run on XP.  (Not to mention it needs twice as much RAM as most machines on the market)  So, as usual, the software developers and the hardware manufacturers are forcing us to upgrade yet again.

Anybody throw a circle of track down under their tree this year?  They can't all be on that "other forum".

If you see a train under a tree, then I succeeded!

Help, I don't know how to link to the picture which is on Photobucket. I'm using an Android tablet.

I'm working on the home layout.

In the mean time, here's the "away" layout:

Terrific!

But does "Away" mean?

Great video Rob!  It's steady cam smooth!  Big Smile

RUNTIME: I only know the Windows/Firefox way, so you may have to experiment for Android.  Click on the photo you want to share.  When it comes up, move your cursor arrow over to where the "Share Photo" section is.  Scroll over "Direct" and when the arrow changes to a pointing hand, click on it to copy the link.  It turns yellow and says "copied" on my setup.  Then just paste the link in the "Source" box when you open the "Insert/Edit Image" box of your post.  (Bottom row, looks like a moon over a mountain.)

My truncated 2016 prewar layout:

Truncated because of "Mount St. Crapola" (otherwise known as boxes of crap from the garage sales) taking up space that I'd prefer to use for trains.  Stick out tongue

Oh well.  Doesn't bother the clockwork layout.

Didn't show up so I copied and did it

You need to copy the "direct link" and post in the picture looking thing in the bar at the top of your post. It looks like a mountain in a box with a sun in it

It's a card table.  I built the layout on top with foamcore and heavy paper and the "Lionel Bridge" at the base is just green posterboard.

This posting could just as easily have been titled “It Takes Longer than You Think”. Took about 4 weeks to prepare such that I could set it up in about an hour at my daughter’s house. Overall a success, but improvements are in-store for next year.

Well I'm down to half a Disneyland.  Big Smile  So here are a few parting shots I took before I started the disassembly.

Yesterday I experimented a bit with a full spectrum flourescent bulb.

A lot of the photos had that "bomb just went off" overexposed look but in a few the colors and details were much more vibrant.

This is the half that's still there.  Because I install the layout from Frontierland to Main Street Station in a big clockwise arc, non-aerial pictures of Fantasyland have been nonexistent.  So today I took advantage of having the other half of the park gone and crawled under the tree!  Big Smile

Next year Liberty Square may be demolished so I'll be glad to have a few photos of it.

Why would Liberty Square get demolished?  Three reasons.  Number one, I want to rebuild Main Street with a lot more detail and lighting than I have now.  Number two I want my Plasticville Independence Hall back for my postwar layout.  And Number three I want more Fantasyland structures than I currently have room for.  Getting rid of Liberty Square would allow me to do that.

So as Disneyland fades back into it's boxes I say Merry Christmas!  It's STILL closer than you think!  Smile, Wink & Grin

Our church's "Polar Express and Craft Event" was a huge hit.  We had 5 running train layouts and lots of kids of all ages checking them out.  I had the old trains (pre-war American Flyer and post-war Lionel UP) and got lots of comments ("That is like the train my dad/grandpop had").  As a follow up, we are starting a small group around model trains and starting to plan next year's event because...Its closer than you think!

Ok, I was playing with the camera again!  Big Smile  I made a "strategic withdrawl" of structures up Main Street and got a few photos from a plastic person's viewpoint.

Gotta have a balloon vendor.

An avatar change!  Holy smoke Becky, when did you start "packin' heat?"

Now I see how you're going to demolish part of your Disneyland layout, with heavy artillery!

Hey Penny, you do some really nice work on the layout. Also when did you change your photo on here?

I have tried to post photos on here in the past but find it too much of a hassle to post photos so I guit trying to post photos.

That's my "Bond Girl" photo.  It's a spring loaded plastic toy that "fires" hollow orange balls about the size of BB's.  I bought it in Thailand to carry around because of all the wild canines running around over there.  I figured at least it might distract them long enough for me get away.  Never had to find out, though I did accidentally walk into the midst of a turf war between two Jack Russell Terrier sized dogs.

This guy on the other hand...
