On a recent vacation to Napa Valley, we took a trip on the Napa Valley Wine Train. There are actually two trains that one can go on. A multi coach train pulled by 2 Alco diesels and a smaller one coach train pulled by a 44-ton diesel switcher. (BTW, K-Line sold a model of the longer one.) The coaches on both trains are all old heavy-weights in great condition. We went on the smaller one.
The round trip went from about 10 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon. It stops are four different wineries with a four course meal served one course at a time before each stop. Each course was 5-stars. Overall a fun trip well worth the money.

I'm really happy that you got to ride the Wine Train. I have yet to see the Center Cab Switcher. I'm not sure if it is new to the stable or if it was in storage.

Do the trains run all year round? I plan on going out west late next year, and I wouldn't mind taking that round trip. It really does seem like it would be very enjoyable!
Yes, the trains run year around. Google "Napa Wine Train" to go to their web page. A lot of options to choose from.
