Thanks for providing trains...Menards is my go-to source for all home improvement purchases.
A potential niche for trains would be replacement shells. There seems to be a lot of good mechanisms out there that need a nice shell to be "good as new".
I don't know who in China you have making the Denver Die Cast vehicles. Is there any chance you could get them to make them 1/48 or 1/50? I like Mustangs and found two 2015 versions,,, one yellow and one pastel blue. After measuring them I see they are 1/43 which is larger than scale. Much of Lionels trains are smaller than scale.

I'll tell you, 1/43 may be as close as you'll get. As far as Lionels being smaller than scale that's an "it depends" situation. Some are closer than others. At any rate most toy train makers always played a little fast and loose with scale. They were toys after all.
Has anyone else noticed that Menards is now charging a "Processing Fee" for their "Ship to Store - Free!" option?

seems fair to me, seeing I have to pay it to have it shipped. they still have to process it.
Trust me, whatever it is from whoever it is you're paying for the shipping, one way or another, either it's out in the open or it's figured into the price.

Not being a cynic, that's just the way it is.
It's frustrating to know that for over 2 years they didn't charge a processing fee for their "Ship to Store - Free" and now they do. Over those 2 years I did receive damaged items, so maybe my next order will be so well packaged that I won't believe it!
I'd rather just pull train-stuff off their shelves in my local store, but all their online items are not available in every store.
Lesson Learned: "Free Shipping" does not mean "Free Processing".

Hey Bob, why not contact Mark, the Menards train guy? Working together you guys can take Menards trains to a whole new dimension plus give the larger manufacturers some real stiff competition!
I did have a chance to meet Mark and he does an amazing job. He translates the product concept into the actual design to fit the footprint. A way cool job!

I'm sure Mark got a slap on the wrist for violating Forum policies regarding product solicitation, so he probably won't be responding anytime soon. It's too bad since he's a regular contributor on the other forum. I figure if Menards (or anyone) takes out a full color ad in CTT they should be able to share product development news here. Folks are often wondering why the forum traffic is so low here. Well, maybe this is one area Kalmbach could loosen the reins a bit and help create a better interaction between us and the manufacturers. Just my two cents......

Nice to hear from you here. I just got my latest CTT in the mail and it was a nice surprise to see the Menards train catalog in there! I saw a few things I didn't even know existed. You guys are certainly bringing the "A" game.
Agree about the train catalog. I am so glad our local Menards has such a great selection of train and now Xmas items that work for a layout too.

Regarding 1:43 scale vehicles. It must be remembered that 0 scale in the UK is 1:43.5. This is possibly the reason that 1:43 scale vehicles were introduced to the hobby.
Athearn and other manufactures make or have made 1:50 scale vehicles, close for 1:48 scale in the US.

Becuae of the pricing on the NEW tubular trackage, I'm starting to rethink using my FasTrack and going back to to tubular, and believe me, I have a choice of tubular, FasTrack and Atlas (and I have plenty of all 3).
I live out here on the East Coast where there is no Menards, and wishing you'd get a state closer.....but I have, due to RT's very BAD influence, to buy 2 of those mystery boxes.....and can't say enough about the buildings and the rolling stock. Great stuff, just trying to hold back on getting Station 12 to go with my MTH Firehouse.

Gee we have at least four Menards near us. I have ordered product for pickup at the store. My favorite rolling stock is the U.S. Coast Guard helocopter used on my Alaska RR consist.
Menards is a great store for getting an education in tools and hardware. They have a great Christmas decorating section, too.
