I'm new to the forum and I was looking for feedback on the LIONEL Lionchief+ Steam Locomotives, 4-6-4 Hudsons and the 2-8-2 Mikados.  Thanks for the feedback.

Nothing but praise for these engines. They perform well and so far have a good track record. Some people don't like them because each engine type uses a different controller but there is an add on controller that will operate 3 engines. Think about it, how many engines do we usually run at one time anyway.

Edit, One note IF you buy more than 1 engine of the Same Type they will both respond to either controller.

They were never intended to replace TMCC or Legacy, it is a good system for those that just want a few trains at a reasonable price. All MTH engines have remote control(DCS) in them you pay for it even if you are never going to use it. Lionel has offered a system that at reasonable cost gives you remote control.

And there's always the option to run them in conventional mode.

You know it's a wee bit annoying when people ask questions and then don't follow up with a reply on their thread. Those of us leaving answers like to know the outcome

I'm sorry that I didn't reply to my post before now.  I have severe memory impairment, as such I don't always remember even something I did five seconds ago.  Getting "Old" isn't easy.

I would like to thank everyone for the feed back.

Welcome to the forum! I don't have the Lionel Lion Chief set or any engines with that. Have heard from others that you can only use it with up to 3 engines and they need to be Lion Chief from Lionel. Lion Chief won't work with TMCC or Legacy according to what I have heard else where.

Don't feel bad, I don't remember if I "went to the bathroom" this morning.

I assume I did, but....

I have three, a camelbach , a mikado, and a pacific type. I run all three on transformer mode with only sacficing the coupler operation. Considering that I also have Williams , Post War, and command locos on the track at the same time, operating on transformer mode is the way to go.
