Sharp CNW "Midwest Freight Set" at Hobby Lobby
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, December 5, 2004 9:12 PM
Lionel and O-gauge fans of Midwestern freight lines like the Chicago & Northwestern (CNW)/Chicago Great Western (CGW) may be interested in checking out the Midwest Freight Set (6-31984) being offered by the Hobby Lobby this Christmas. It's a ready-to-run starter set with an RS-3 diesel, box car, tank car, and caboose decorated for the CNW/CGW, and includes a 40"x60" Fastrack oval and a 40W power source. After seeing it, I told my wife that 'Santa' needs to bring me one for Christmas (!).

[#welcome] to the forum.

I saw that set too in Hobby Lobby. It is a nice set and I was surprised how much O gauge train merchandise was carried by Hobby Lobby. To insure that Santa brings the train, just start reading the jewerly store ads in front of the Mrs. and ask dumb questions about specific pieces. Usually they start to feel somewhat guilty when you are considering something nice and they were going to buy you a shirt and a tie.

BTW, don't tell me you are a Cubby's fan. If so, I'll make sure everyone goes easy on you. You have more than enough problems. [:D][:D]

traincubfan,

Thank you VERY MUCH for the information! I went to my local Hobby Lobby and initially was disappointed when I got to the train hobby aisle - only a Southwest Freight set was available. Fortunately I found the last Midwest Freight set a few aisles away. At 40% off the $199.99 sticker price, it was a good buy, too.[:D]

I'm a C&NW fan (member of the C&NWHS) and have limited my train purchases to Lionel C&NW issues, so the timing was great. You might not want to wait for Santa!

Again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! [:D][:D][:D][:D]
