Hi!
Went through my parts box and found what looks like a boxcar door. It is gray, measures 1" wide ( 1 1/2" with outer back edge) and 1 1/2" tall. Made of metal (lead) weighs 1.1 ounces and is marked Walthers 415. Only having Lionel, don't recall when or where I got it.
Went on the internet and only found Walthers HO. Looks like O to me.
If you know anything about the door, I'd appreciate it.
As always, many thanks.

Yes walthers use to sell O scale freight and passenger cars in kit form. It seems to be a lost art now but if done right the cars looked good. Minus todays nice detailing.

sir james I - Thanks.
trainmaster2 - Checked the site. The doors in the kit are close. My door has an outer edge attached and the graphic on the door shows a split (two doors) which leads me to beleive that the piece was designed to be placed on the model as a fixed piece (not a sliding one).
Appreciate your reply.
Kits way back then were usually a wooden frame and roof. The freight car sides were either wood that had to be sealed and painted or some had printed cardstock sides, most of Walthers passenger car sides were metal. Some diecast parts were included as add ons.
