I had a question on the Lionel Sante Fe FT set offered early 2000's
I bought the set and returned it because the sound kept dropping out whenever power was interupted. Ex. Track condition and throttle down/direction change.
I have a chance to purchase a new set again. Same model/year set.
Does anyone know if this was a problem with that particular set. Dont want another lemon.
Fyi- was using with conventional layout/ transformer and still will be.
As soon as the new battery would discharge slightly this would happen.
That's how they work. The sound boards need power.

Did they have where you could put a 9V battery in as some engines do for a power back-up not saying they did this for this one but they may have.
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

The engine had a 9v battery to back up the sound during electrical interruptions and direction change etc.
The problem was. As soon as the battery slightly discharged, the sound would drop out in these situations.
Ok. I did a little more research and it seems to me that Lionel doesn't have the option of putting a nine volt battery in their engines anymore. Is that correct? If that's the case, when using conventional transformer /layout, I would guess there is no way to control sound drop out when changing direction or an electrical interruption in the track power?
