Having spent the last few months reviving many vintage Lionel accessories, I can recommend two excellent resources for Lionel accessories: Toy Train Repair Made Easy: 21 Lionel Postwar Projects, by Ray Plummer (Kalmback Books), and Greenberg's Repair and Operating Manual for Lionel Trains, 7th ed, (Kalmbach Books).  These include wirign diagrams for many of the accessories.  Have fun as the motors come back to life!

I have already K Line's complete repair manual as well as Greenburg's Repair & operating manual printed in 1978. Would I neccessarily need this 7th edition? Would this volume contain newer updated information then what I already have?

Thanx.

I also have the K Line volume, which is quite comprehensive, but the 7th ed has more info and includes several pages of corrections from the previous edition.  You are probably OK with what you have, but b/c I knew I would be doing quite a bit of work on vintage operating accessories, I went the latest and greatest. It was recommended by several vendors at the TCA meet in York a year or so ago, and I went for it.  Used it quite a bit already.

Hope his helps.

Ok. When I read the post recommending this edition I checked out some of the reviews on Amazon. They were mixed. Some praised it while others complained that it was just old paper being recycled. And being reduced in size made it difficult to read. Another claimed that referenced pages & sections were nonexistent. That's why I had asked. Like you I'm always looking for updated material & techniques. Looking to blend the old with some new. Thank you.

I like user reviews of items before I purchase. Must try to consider the outliers.  From what you described and given you have an earlier edition, I think you are fine with what you have.

Enjoy,

Michael
