Christmas Layout Help
Posted by dougdagrump on Thursday, November 25, 2004 1:34 AM
Almost finished setting up the Christmas layout but have encountered a problem. The layout incorporates a Bachmann Big Hauler "Night Before Christmas Set". I pulled it out of storage, actually under the bed, got the track all set and it runs fine but no sound. It wasn't stored with the battery in so I installed the battery changed that one thinking maybe it was bad, no luck. One concern is the tether between the tender and loco, it seems to be very stiff, like maybe the insulation is getting brittle. I know it's "G" scale but everybody in here seems to be very diversified in their hobbies. Any ideas ?

I have two Bachmann G Scale engines and run them outside. I also have an LGB, with a Sierra Sound system that wakes up the neighbors.

The sound system is in the tender with the battery. The tether is for sycronization of the chuff sound. The 9 Volt battery goes in the tender upside down into the contacts. (I am just thinking out loud.) Is there a switch under the tender to turn on the sound? There is something in the front of the engine. A couple of switches, one for smoke and one for power. There is something on the rear wheel of the engine that controls the chuff rate. Can you see any problems with the tether using a magnifing glass?

The tender has a volume control and the loco has an on/off switch on the front for the smoke. In the cab, next to where the tether plugs in, there is an on/off switch for the sound. Guess I'll pull the shell on the tender, hoping I wouldn't have to, to see if there is anything visually wrong.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.
May your day be full of family, friends, and good food. [C=:-)][dinner][|)][:D]
