@Jeff, Since you are presenting K-line, I have a few questions. If I would like one of those engines, would it be possible to order via a website?
And a question I whi***o ask for a long time to a toytrain manufacturer; What's wrong with Europe? I don't see any activities in 0 scale here, but if I tell about my hobby and show my stuff, they are very interested..
I doubt if a $900 engine will sell in interesting amounts over here, but the starter sets and certainly the populair prized engines (like the ones mentionned in the fallfair, and the gp7's) will kick in for sure. I have a few K-line machines (all with the dc motors in the trucks) and they are relyable and good value for money.
I know that a few trainshops tried Lionel. But it's in such small amounts and completely without advertizement that the whole setup doesn't come off the ground.

I, for one, would like to have one of those machines from the fallfair.. They look awesome, and the price is very attractive (understatement)..

Just another question. Those memberships, is that also an option for people living outside the USA?
