I would normally refer you to http://pictures.olsenstoy.com/searchcd2.htm?srt=4, but it doesn't seem to be working. Maybe it will be later.

[#welcome] to the forum. The cattle pen has some pretty straight forward wiring. There are 2 posts on one end of the base. The post near the track goes to the hot or power terminal on your transformer. There should be no mistaking it, as it is the one with the insulated washer at the base. You will want to install a some kind of on/off switch in line with this connection. The other post is connected to the common ground.

This accessory needs to be adjusted for whichever style of track that you are using. You mentioned that you had 027, so you will want to loosen the nut on the back of the base, and position the tabs on the base, in the lower slots of the pen.

OK now, that black slot where the track sits needs a power blade to operate the car when you turn the power on to the pen. There are two versions of the blade, one for O gauge track and one for 027.

The cattle pen is a fun one, but place it where you can easily reach it, because the cows do not always cooperate.[swg]

Have fun.

The [}:)] Doctor is in !!! I can send you photocopies of the instructions from the k-line
book and the tune up article from CTT for the cost of copies, if that will help. Otherwise,
the Kine repair manual for postwar lionel trains is your best bet for all repairs and some
instructions. If you want the photocopies, Email me.

Thanks for your help. I was thinking that the cattle car got it's power from the track.
Now I see how the track sit's around the power lugs between the rails. I'll need
to lower the lug's and do some work on the track because it's shape (flanges and
tie's) are a little different than the "O" gauge track. The ON-OFF switch idea
kicked everything into place, thanks guy's.

The [}:)] Doctor Is in !!! You are on the right track, so to speak. The 027 track will fit it uses two sections. I can send you the instructions as I stated before. I have worked on the stockyards, I sold one of the fourm members a set. I also have some spare parts
for them. Do you also have the stockcar? I have refitted one or two so I can say I am
good at it. I stand ready to assist when you need it.

I was the one that bought it from the "Dr." I have succesfully put modern O27and O tubular in the stockyard. I show you how to do that, that is, if i can make a diagram! Yes, it is a VERY good idea to put it near you, the cows are so stubborn sometimes!

@ jerry, cows stay cows, even if they're made from rubber.. That's why they didn't make a goat or donkey loading platform..

The secret to getting the track to fit is to use two sections, and place the joint in the middle of the base, that was how the pen was designed. It takes a bit of a squeeze between the ties, and the track just locks in. No modification required.

Hey guys, at least they aren't camels.[swg]

The [}:)] Doctor is in !!! I forgot to tell you about using newer 027 track on the stockyard.
For some reason, the newer track ties are a tad wider. when I sold jerry his set, I sent
him two older pieces of 027 track which fit fine. I have had no trouble with newer 0 gauge track tho. To use the newer track, you have to do some filing or grinding to get the
track to fit. You are better off finding two older sections of 027 track to use on the stockyard. Till My Next Missive, I Remain The Humble, Yet Strangly [}:)] Doctor !!!
