MTH ProtoSound and Lionel ZW...How Do I Get Sound?
Posted by FEClionel on Friday, November 19, 2004 7:05 PM
I'm getting ready to set up my Christmas layout next weekend. I need a sound activation button to make the sounds come out of mt 21 technoligy driven my 20th century power. Which sound activation button do I need. I believe Lionel has 2 kinds - one comes in a starter set and one that comes in a railsounds engine package. Which do i need?
Thanks!!!

I have a Lionel 6-5906 external Sound Activation Button in series with my LW and it fires the PS-1 BELL without fail!

Your engine will have sounds without a sound button. The two sound buttons that you are referring to are for the whistle – horn (which the ZW all ready has) and the other is for the bell.

The part number for the bell button is 5906-1. You can order it from Warren’s Trains and his part number is 610-5906-1 and his web address is http://www.wmtlionelparts.com

The last price I have is $15.00.

Wire it in with the red wire to the hot terminal of the ZW and the black wire to the center rail of the track. It must be wired in series and not parallel.
