American Flyer help
Posted by jhoff310 on Thursday, November 18, 2004 7:06 PM
Ok guys I need some help. I aquired my grandpa's A.F. before he passed away a few years ago. I got it out the other night so we could setup it up for Christmas. My son being the curious one he is decided to pu***he reset button, Now its STUCK DOWN. I need some help on how to get the reset button to pop back up. I hate to think the power pack is ruined after 50+ years. Any help at all would be greatly appericated.
thanks
jeff
P.S. the train won't run with the reset button being down.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me will have something for you to try. In the meantime, I can offer some hope. A Lionel, K-Line, MTH, Marx, or any other transformer for O gauge will run your American Flyer just fine. In a pinch, even an HO transformer works, but you need to make sure its wattage is close to that of the Flyer transformer and you lose your reverse function. So if you can find a cheap used transformer at a local hobby shop, you may be able to get something bigger and better than what you had for not a lot of money.

I had a Flyer set for a while this year, and I ran it off Lionel, Marx, and an HO transformer I had handy with no problems.
