Does any know of a way to make the #582 American Flyer crossing signal blink alternatly as they should instead of both at once?

There was a extended discussion of this subject (with pictures) within the American Flyer group on Facebook.  Basically the two lights are wired to a common return that is the metal crossmember on the back of the sign post.  You need to sever that crossmember and solder new leads to the disconnected sides.  Then you will have two independently wired bulbs that can be attached to any sort of flasher control circuit.

I have figured out what is wrong with my brain!  On the left side nothing works right, and on the right side there is nothing left!
