Gluing people or figures to a train layout
Posted by Locolight on Monday, April 6, 2015 8:43 PM

What is recommended to mount people (figures) on a train layout.  Is there something that comes off easily if I want to move the figure.  My layout is plywood painted green.  Thanks

Locolight, I use a dab of hot glue from a glue stick gun or Woodland Scenics Scenic Accents Glue # A198.
Both can be removed. Hot glue sets up faster. The Woodland Scenics glue you will need to prop the figure in place till it sets up.
 Hope this helps.

Like Kev, I've used this glue from Woodland Scenics. http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/Item/A198/page/1

It lets you reposition things without regluing.

Woodland scenics has an even better type of glue called Hob-e-Tac. It has a black lable and red center with white writing. Put it on the feet of the people, let it turn white, then stick them down.

Glue dots (See CTT March 2009)

Craft glue dots

I use them all over my layout.  All the people below are wearing glue dots.

On my large scale portable layout I am using clear silicon caulking to hold figures in place. It takes time to cure to clear but I like its grip tackiness and flexible nature. I usually add a thin brass rod to a leg and predrill a mounting hole before glueing down.

I have used rubber glue. If you want to move a figure just pull it up and pull the old glue off and add new for the new spot you want to move the figure to.

Clear silicon, it peels right off if need be.

I have used Aileen's Tacky Glue with success.
