RMT Order Status
Posted by RAVL on Monday, March 16, 2015 7:09 PM

Anyone been able to get an order status from RMT lately?  I was happy to see them re-open, but I am having no luck getting a response to inquiries on an order that has been paid for.  I am wondering if there is an alternative way to reach out.  Thanks in advance.

I'm having the same problem. My wife ordered a GG1 for me for Christmas, and it has now been over 3 months since she ordered. I have sent several emails, and none of them have been answered. I can not find a phone number, and it noted on their site that email is the only way to contact them. I just told Karen to contact the credit card company, and see if we can get help there, since I've pretty much given up on the loco. Not a happy camper.

Sorry to hear that.

All this being said, I don't want to "bury" these folks on an internet forum -- one of the nice things about the train hobby is that it is, at least in my experience, comprised of adults.  There very well could be a reasonable explanation -- I get the idea they are a small operation.  But the reason for reaching out here is precisely because I don't want to cancel the order.

Thank you for responding.

It has been my understanding that a lot of their inventory is stuck in a container at the dock out west because of the labor slowdown. They seem to be able to bombard my in box with junk e-mails so I would think they should be able to answer yours.

I would also think that they should not take your money till your order ships like others Hobby shops do.

This is on their web site today. Looks like they are making progress.

"It has been many long months since a shipment of toy train products has arrived at RMT. Now, as RMT finally begins to receive the immense backlog of new toy train products, RMT will start a new phase of service to our customers. Beginning immediately, it will be RMT policy to accept orders for any new items when the item has been manufactured and can be scheduled on the next available container shipment to USA. This way RMT can guarantee new product availability to our customers and provide delivery in a timely manner, depending upon international shipping schedules. This allows RMT to bring in more varied types of toy train products rather than stock up on possibly excess inventory that may not allow other items to be shipped.

This new RMT customer service policy is S.T.O. - SHIP TO ORDER.

Any available RMT product that falls under the STO guidelines will be identified with the letters STO along with the RMT style number. As an example, the PRR #4877 GG-1 Electric Locomotive is currently an STO product and is identified by this unique style number...STO-RMT-97915-2. This means that if, as an example, the PRR #4877 GG-1 is ordered by an RMT customer with or without other RMT products at time of placing the order of the STO item, RMT will process the entire order and ship any instock items immediately and the STO items as available."

That west coast labor slowdown (if not a flat-out strike) has caused problems for a lot of people, the outfit I work for being one of them.

Firelock,

Just some of the dark side of us not manufacturing products in the USA anymore I guess. JMHO
The good thing is it sounds like RMT will be shipping products soon. Smile

KRM I agree with you, you better believe it's the dark side of not manufacturing products here in the US!  We had a little bit of a discussion on the "Trains" Forum about that very issue.  This could get political real fast so I'll say no more about it.

Let me add I'm an RMT fan.  I've got six of their "Beeps" (Don't ask how, it just happened) and they're just wonderful!  Put two or more of them together and they'll pull anything!

I'm actually a steam freak but the "Beeps" are so cute I couldn't pass 'em up.

Agree,

Me too. I love my Beep and Bang, as well as my 12 ore cars and 4 passenger cars I have from them. All nice and priced within our budget. Looking for the new MP-15 soon as well.
